How to Join a Clinical Pilates Class at Gen Health (And What to Expect in Your First Session)

Thinking about starting Clinical Pilates? Great choice! Clinical Pilates is a safe and effective way to build strength, improve posture, support injury recovery, and manage pain — all under the expert guidance of a qualified physiotherapist.

How to Get Started with Clinical Pilates at Gen Health

Before joining a class, we take the time to understand your body, your goals, and any areas of concern. Here’s what the process looks like:

1. Book an Initial Assessment with a Physiotherapist

Your journey begins with a one-on-one session with one of our experienced physiotherapists. We’ll chat about your health history, assess your movement and goals, and introduce you to key Pilates movements and equipment so you feel confident heading into your first class.

Note: Depending on your needs, more than one individual session may be recommended before joining a group class.

2. Find a Class That Suits You

Once your physiotherapist has confirmed your readiness, we’ll help you find a class that suits your level and your schedule.

We offer:

  • 3:1 group classes (30 minutes – suitable for all levels)
  • 6:1 group classes (45 minutes – for those with more Pilates experience.)

You can choose to join an ongoing class or fill in week-to-week, depending on your availability. Classes run Monday to Friday, with early morning and evening options (including later sessions on Tuesdays and Wednesdays).

Our friendly admin team will assist you in booking into the right class for your goals and lifestyle.

What to Wear and Bring

  • Wear comfortable clothing you can move freely in (e.g. tights, shorts, activewear).
  • Socks are required for hygiene and safety. Grip socks are available for purchase, or alternatively, bring a clean pair of socks to change into on arrival.

Private Health Insurance

You may be able to claim Clinical Pilates (Clinical Reformer Therapy) through your Private Health Insurance under physiotherapy. The item code is 560. We can process your claim on the spot using our HICAPS terminal.
